Throughout the Bible we see the Jewish people reciting God’s work in their History, and at times God even instructs His people to recite and sing of His mighty works. Worship is reciting and singing back to God who God is.

Ex 17:14 Then the Lord said to Moses, “Write this as a memorial in a book and recite it in the ears of Joshua, that I will utterly blot out the memory of Amalek from under heaven.” Ex 17:15 And Moses built an altar and called the name of it, The Lord Is My Banner…

God also instructed Moses to write a song so that the people could sing it in times of trouble.

Dt 31:21a And when many evils and troubles have come upon them, this song shall confront them as a witness (for it will live unforgotten in the mouths of their offspring)… Dt 31:22 So Moses wrote this song the same day and taught it to the people of Israel.
