Who Believed?

His Family:

Mk 3:21 And when his family heard it, they went out to seize him, for they were saying, “He is out of his mind.”

Jn 7:5 For not even his brothers believed in him.

The Disciples and close friends:

Mk 16:14 Afterward he appeared to the eleven themselves as they were reclining at table, and he rebuked them for their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they had not believed those who saw him after he had risen.

Lk 24:1 But on the first day of the week, at early dawn, they went to the tomb, taking the spices they had prepared. Lk 24:2 And they found the stone rolled away from the tomb, Lk 24:3 but when they went in they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. Lk 24:4 While they were perplexed about this, behold, two men stood by them in dazzling apparel. Lk 24:5 And as they were frightened and bowed their faces to the ground, the men said to them, “Why do you seek the living among the dead? Lk 24:6 He is not here, but has risen. Remember how he told you, while he was still in Galilee, Lk 24:7 that the Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men and be crucified and on the third day rise.” Lk 24:8 And they remembered his words, Lk 24:9 and returning from the tomb they told all these things to the eleven and to all the rest. Lk 24:10 Now it was Mary Magdalene and Joanna and Mary the mother of James and the other women with them who told these things to the apostles, Lk 24:11 but these words seemed to them an idle tale, and they did not believe them. Lk 24:12 But Peter rose and ran to the tomb; stooping and looking in, he saw the linen cloths by themselves; and he went home marveling at what had happened.

Lk 24:36 As they were talking about these things, Jesus himself stood among them, and said to them, “Peace to you!” Lk 24:37 But they were startled and frightened and thought they saw a spirit. Lk 24:38 And he said to them, “Why are you troubled, and why do doubts arise in your hearts?

Jn 6:64 But there are some of you who do not believe.” (For Jesus knew from the beginning who those were who did not believe, and who it was who would betray him.)

The people:

Jn 12:34 So the crowd answered him, “We have heard from the Law that the Christ remains forever. How can you say that the Son of Man must be lifted up? Who is this Son of Man?”

Jn 12:36 While you have the light, believe in the light, that you may become sons of light.” When Jesus had said these things, he departed and hid himself from them. Jn 12:37 Though he had done so many signs before them, they still did not believe in him

If no one believed Jesus, than how did Christianity grow?

Jn 20:19 On the evening of that day, the first day of the week, the doors being locked where the disciples were for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood among them and said to them, “Peace be with you.”

The disciples were hiding in fear until they saw the resurrected Christ.

1 Co 15:3 For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, 1 Co 15:4 that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures, 1 Co 15:5 and that he appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve. 1 Co 15:6 Then he appeared to more than five hundred brothers at one time, most of whom are still alive, though some have fallen asleep. 1 Co 15:7 Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles. 1 Co 15:8 Last of all, as to one untimely born, he appeared also to me.

Many others also saw Jesus Christ.

Everyone has the testimony.

Jn 20:29 Jesus said to him, “Have you believed because you have seen me? Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”

What do you believe in?

Ac 4:11 This Jesus is the stone that was rejected by you, the builders, which has become the cornerstone. Ac 4:12 And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”

Heb 3:19 So we see that they were unable to enter because of unbelief.

Mt 7:13 “Enter by the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many. Mt 7:14 For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few.

The disciples went from a room in fear to across the world to carry the Gospel of a risen Jesus and they all became martyrs. No one will knowingly die for a lie…they died for what they knew and touched Jesus Christ [the truth]. Because Jesus died for our sins and was resurrected…so will all of mankind that by faith believe.
