Satan thought that he had won when Adam fell and the sin nature was now a part of all mankind. Since Holiness required a penalty, all those that had fallen would have to pay that penalty…death. This death was both physical and spiritual. Satan had now secured all of his followers forevermore…or so he thought.
When Christian teachers say that we will never know the full import of the Cross and the suffering of Christ, it is because we do not understand the full import of sin and its consequences.
Holiness has a requirement…no sin can enter into God’s Holiness. Sin has a requirement…death (Romans 6.23). There is no way man can cross this divide…
Luke16.25 But Abraham said, ‘Child, remember that you in your lifetime received your good things, and Lazarus in like manner bad things; but now he is comforted here, and you are in anguish. 26 And besides all this, between us and you a great chasm has been fixed, in order that those who would pass from here to you may not be able, and none may cross from there to us’.
The whole story of the Bible is the creation and fall of man and how God has made a way for those that believe. In that fall everything that God created fell…man and the whole universe. In the resurrection everyone and everything will be a new creation…as God originally intended. The full import of sin is death. The full import of resurrection is a new creation. This is the difference between the Lake of Fire and the New Jerusalem. No living soul has ever seen God as he is, the Lake of Fire as it is, or the New Jerusalem as it is. Which will you see when you open your eyes?
Acts26.18 to open their eyes, so that they may turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those who are sanctified by faith in me.’
