Put off your old self, be renewed, put on your new self.
Eph 4:20 But that is not the way you learned Christ!— Eph 4:21 assuming that you have heard about him and were taught in him, as the truth is in Jesus, Eph 4:22 to put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires, Eph 4:23 and to be renewed in (by) the spirit of your minds, Eph 4:24 and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.
The word “create” as used in 4.24 is used only of God. It is used as in the same work of creation and it always describes an act of God. The closing phrase indicates a significant ethical requirement and the requirements are described as Truth. And, emphasized in Eph. 2.10.
Eph 2:10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.
God expects us to walk as He expected Adam to walk.
Ge 1:26 Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”
In exchange for walking in wisdom, God has prepared each believer’s blessings from the foundation of the world. The question for each believer is not what will you exchange for your soul— we are already believers—it is what will you exchange for your blessings.
