Mk 1:15 and saying, “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel.”

What does it mean to “repent and believe”? Repent means to change one’s mind, and believe means to trust. Therefore we are to “change our mind” about trusting in our self and trust in Jesus Christ.

What does trusting Jesus mean? It means to know God’s will, live a Holy life, bear fruit for the Kingdom, and grow in the knowledge of God.

Col 1:9 And so, from the day we heard, we have not ceased to pray for you, asking that you may be filled with the knowledge of his will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, Col 1:10 so as to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God.

Once we know God’s commandments (increasing in knowledge), we should keep them.

2 Jn 6 And this is love, that we walk according to his commandments; this is the commandment, just as you have heard from the beginning, so that you should walk in it.

1 Th 2:12 we exhorted each one of you and encouraged you and charged you to walk in a manner worthy of God, who calls you into his own kingdom and glory.

The meaning of belief is trust; the meaning of repent is to change one’s mind about trusting in one’s self and start trusting in the Lord:

Pr 3:5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding.

Pr 3:6 In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.

Pr 3:7 Be not wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord, and turn away from evil.
