What did Adam and Eve Choose?

Adam and Eve did not have the knowledge of evil. There was no evil in the Garden of Eden. They walked with God in the cool of the evening; knowing only holiness. They were not choosing as we are today; they were making a choice not for good or evil, but for obedience. It was the same choice that Satan made earlier in Heaven, and like in the Garden of Eden there was only Holiness in Heaven. These three creatures chose to rebel against God.

Satan was the most perfect creature ever made and he was over the throne of God, but he wanted to be on the throne. Therefore, Satan rebelled and was cast down to Earth. Adam and Eve rebelled and were cast out of the Garden of Eden. Their desire was not for sin as we know and think of it today. They wanted to be like God and act as God.

Though their choice was somewhat different; people today still choose against God. The Bible tells us that it is pride.  Ps 10:4 In the pride of his face the wicked does not seek him; all his thoughts are, “There is no God.”  Ps 14:1 The fool says in his heart, “There is no God.” They are corrupt, they do abominable deeds, there is none who does good.

Satan promised Adam and Eve the freedom of being a god. What did they get?  2 Pe 2:19 They promise them freedom, but they themselves are slaves of corruption. For whatever overcomes a person, to that he is enslaved.

How should we respond to the freedom God has given us to choose? 1 Pe 2:16 Live as people who are free, not using your freedom as a cover-up for evil, but living as servants of God.
