Wandering off into Myths

According to Paul the key to the Truth is sound Biblical teaching.

2 Ti 4:1 I charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who is to judge the living and the dead, and by his appearing and his kingdom: 2 Ti 4:2 preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching. 2 Ti 4:3 For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions, 2 Ti 4:4 and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander off into myths.

The Apostle Paul charges Timothy:

  • To be ready to preach and teach at all times with patience

  • Reprove [teach against sin], rebuke [warn those that sin], and exhort [comfort, support, and encourage]

Paul warns Timothy that a time will come when:

  • People will not endure sound teaching

  • They will choose teachers after their own passion…an evil craving.

  • They will turn away from Truth

  • Wander off into myths

Paul’s warning has certainly come true. Many believe that Paul is speaking strictly against incorrect doctrine, and he is, but Paul is also speaking of any lie that stands against the fact that God is Truth, God wrote every word of the Bible, and every word is not only true, but Truth. If you read these verses and thought you and your Church stood firm in your doctrine then let me exhort you in every way. But, do you believe that Truth is absolute and exclusive, of God, the Bible is true in every aspect, and that God is the creator of the Universe?

If not, you have wandered off into myths.
