The unbelieving world has changed the definition of “tolerance” ever so subtly.
2Cor11.14 And no wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light. 15 So it is no surprise if his servants, also, disguise themselves as servants of righteousness. Their end will correspond to their deeds. Satan always uses his own for deception.
The new definition of tolerance: (The new) Accept different views VS (The old) Accept existence of different views (D. A. Carson)
The subtle change is in the words “acceptance of” versus just “accept existence of”. Many will not notice that the word “existence” is even gone. There is a complete difference in the “accepting of a view” and “accept existence of” a view. One can recognize the existence of homosexuality, but one does not have to accept homosexuality…and that subtle difference is everything. It is everything that the new definition of tolerance has come to mean.
By redefining tolerance, intolerance also becomes redefined. To unbelievers intolerance is not accepting everything that unbelievers accept, no matter how immoral. The believer only accepts the values of God. By the new definition the believer is intolerant and blessed to be.
