God has provided a holy place of worship throughout time. The Patriarchs built altars, Moses had the Tabernacle, and the Jewish people had the Temple. Where is the holy place in the Age of Grace? Our answer is in Ephesians: Eph2.20 built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus himself being the cornerstone, 21 in whom the whole structure, being joined together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord.
When the believer is spoken of as a member, believers think of a Church, but in the Bible a member is a member of the body of Christ not a Church member. 1Cor12.27 Now you are the body of Christ and individually members of it.
This group of members of the body of Christ is also referred to as a Temple. In fact, each member is a Temple. 1Cor6.19a Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you…
This is why we are told, “You shall be holy as I am holy”. God, Christ, and the Holy Spirit each reside with and in each of us, and they can only reside in a holy place. We are the Temple in the Age of Grace. This is why it is so important to follow these commands of holiness.
