George Barna is out with his latest study of the Christian faith over the last twenty years and here is one of his conclusions.

“Overall, the picture is not pretty though it falls somewhat short of disaster. If existing tendencies continue, then we will likely see an increase in the numbers of people who do not accept a conventional definition of God’s character and those who reject the accuracy of the principles taught in the scriptures. Adult Sunday school could easily go
the way of the all-but-forgotten midweek service. The percentage of unchurched people will probably continue to climb as the percentage of adults attending church services remains on the downward slope.”

Most Christians are happy with their church and their understanding of their Bible. Most Christians never hear that our Church is falling away as the Apostle Paul stated in 2Tim4.For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions, and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander off into myths.

We know from Paul that there will be a falling away from the truth and George Barna’s study reflects this very falling away. The question is; are you a part of those that have fallen from the truth? How would you know? A good start is to ask yourself is every word of the Bible true, do you believe that Satan is a real fallen angel, is there a real place called Hell and the Lake of Fire? Unless you have answered yes to all of these questions you would have denied the truths of the Bible.
