In 1962 the United States Supreme Court (Engel v. Vitale) overthrew the decision of the highest court of New York State, and ruled that the following prayer, said in New York State schools, violated the Constitution:
"Almighty God, we acknowledge our dependence upon Thee, and we beg Thy blessings upon us, our parents, our teachers and our Country."
Since that ruling, student test scores have fallen…slowly at first and then rapidly. The test have been made easier, the teachers have taught the test questions, whole school districts have been found cheating, and yet the scores continue to decline. Not once have they ever gone up.
The answer; put that prayer back in schools and regardless of the education system, regardless of the amount of money spent per student; the scores would rise. If you say that this sounds silly, than look at the time period before 1962. There was no Department of Education, there were no computers, the teachers were not as well trained, and the amount of money spent per student dwarfed what is spent today.
It is easy to see that we are dependent upon Thee
