Many Christians misunderstand the Great Commission. They believe it to be only the giving of the Gospel message. The Great Commission is actually to make disciples so they can carry the Gospel message and make other disciples.
Mt 28:16 Now the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain to which Jesus had directed them. Mt 28:17 And when they saw him they worshiped him, but some doubted. Mt 28:18 And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Mt 28:19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, Mt 28:20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
This verse defines discipleship duties; those that teach others.
2 Ti 2:2 and what you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses entrust to faithful men who will be able to teach others also.
