The Fingerprints of God

When someone’s fingers are the only known cause of fingerprints, those prints demonstrate with a high degree of certainty that person’s identity. In the Bible, God purposely uses His finger to identify Himself.

When God brought the plagues upon Egypt, even the godless magician saw God’s fingerprints. Why was this so? Because God wanted the Pharaoh to know that it was the God almighty.

Ex 8:19 Then the magicians said to Pharaoh, “This is the finger of God.” But Pharaoh’s heart was hardened, and he would not listen to them, as the Lord had said.

When Moses was given the Ten Commandments, it was only fitting that God wrote them with His own finger.

Ex 31:18 And he gave to Moses, when he had finished speaking with him on Mount Sinai, the two tablets of the testimony, tablets of stone, written with the finger of God.

When accused of being demon possessed, Jesus points out that His authority is by “the finger of God”.

Lk 11:19 And if I cast out demons by Beelzebul, by whom do your sons cast them out? Therefore they will be your judges. Lk 11:20 But if it is by the finger of God that I cast out demons, then the kingdom of God has come upon you.

God’s fingerprints are all over the universe because God wants each person to see Him clearly. If anyone does not, they are without excuse.

Ro 1:18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth. Ro 1:19 For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. Ro 1:20 For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse.
