This is how wisdom literature in the Bible should be seen…the Books of Blessings. Of course, we all understand that to live a Godly life is a means of blessing, but how many truly know how these books give such specific and particular instructions on not only wisdom, but the steps you must take to be wise. In today’s world, it would have a title to fit in with contemporary thinking, and it would be called Wisdom for Dummies. In fact there is a verse in the Psalms that would verify that this title might be appropriate.

Ps 92:5 How great are your works, O Lord! Your thoughts are very deep! Ps 92:6 The stupid man cannot know; the fool cannot understand this:

A good introduction to all the wisdom books would be this verse in:

Hag 1:5 Now, therefore, thus says the Lord of hosts: Consider your ways.

This is what the wisdom books are about. God is asking will you consider your ways so I can bless you. Notice in these next verses that God knows that you need to have the resources to live, and God doesn’t want you to just barely survive…He wants you to be blessed so God is asking in the closing words of these next verses to consider your ways. God is a loving God.

Hag 1:6 You have sown much, and harvested little. You eat, but you never have enough; you drink, but you never have your fill. You clothe yourselves, but no one is warm. And he who earns wages does so to put them into a bag with holes. Hag 1:7 “Thus says the Lord of hosts: Consider your ways.

There are 437 places in the Bible in 100 verses where the words God and bless or blessings are used together. It is pretty clear God wants to bless you. God is waiting to bless you; are you waiting and hoping in Him?
