According to Ephesians 4:11, the God-given four-fold leadership for the church is as follows:
1. Apostles—like Matthew, John, Paul, and Peter in their New Testament writings
2. Prophets—like Mark, Luke, the writer of Hebrews, James, and Jude in their New Testament writings
3. Evangelists—like all the of above, plus the evangelists who teach and preach today
4. Teaching Shepherds (elders, presbyters, bishops)—like Peter, and also like the elders some may have today.
The job description of these leaders is found in Ephesians 4:12–16.
