Satan is Already Defeated
Remember: you are not fighting for victory, but from victory, for Jesus Christ has already defeated Satan![i]
Col 2:15 He disarmed the rulers and authorities and put them to open shame, by triumphing over them in him.
Jn 12:31 Now is the judgment of this world; now will the ruler of this world be cast out.
Re 12:11 And they have conquered him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, for they loved not their lives even unto death.
You must also remember that you have the ability to resist. The Devil did not make you do it.
Jas 4:7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
But notice that you cannot resist the Devil on your own…you must first submit yourself to God.
A casual walk through life is not possible. You must be sober-minded and watchful. Whether you are a Christian or not, the Devil is right now trying to destroy you, but he can only do so if you let him.
1 Pe 5:8 Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. 1 Pe 5:9 Resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same kinds of suffering are being experienced by your brotherhood throughout the world. 1 Pe 5:10 And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you.
You have victory in Christ for eternal life, but for everyday life you must understand that deception is everywhere for Satan comes as an angel of light.
2 Co 11:14 And no wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light.
In the book of Job, Job said to dress for action. The Apostle Paul said to dress for battle at all times.
Job 40:7 “Dress for action like a man; I will question you, and you make it known to me.
Eph 6:10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. Eph 6:11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil.
