Prayer is an act of willing submission—an active submission and expression of faith—so active that you must be willing to press on until the Lord comes to you.
Ho 6:3 Let us know; let us press on to know the Lord; his going out is sure as the dawn; he will come to us as the showers, as the spring rains that water the earth.”
I once had to remove a walnut tree from my property and with the wood I hand built four prayer benches for my four sons. On the top of those benches, I had carved into the wood this phrase.
“Men ought always to pray, pressing our desires on God with urgency and perseverance, continuing until fire falls and blessings descend”.
This is why unbelievers cannot pray—they are unwilling to submit, and unwilling to recognize God—godly affliction is a foolish Christian invention. The prayer of salvation is the only prayer God will hear from the unbeliever.
Heb 11:6 And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.
