There are people who believe that Buddha lives in their hearts, or the spirit of "the gods" indwells their hearts, or even that "the Christ" is in their hearts, but:

Jeremiah17.9 The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately sick; who can understand it?

We can believe many things, and feel many things that are not so. We know Jesus Christ is a living Savior, not because we feel His presence in our hearts, but because He rose from the grave on the third day.

Acts1.3 He presented himself alive to them after his suffering by many proofs, appearing to them during forty days and speaking about the kingdom of God.

The gospel of our salvation does not rest on our feelings, but on the objective, proven, certain facts of history. We as Christians believe in a historical figure (Jesus Christ) and three historical facts; Christ died, was buried, and arose on the third day.

1Cor15.3 For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, 4 that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures.

Jesus Christ is alive, whether anyone feels Him living in their hearts or not, and He is at this moment in heaven, at the right hand of the Father, but His spirit does indwell each believer. An inmature faith feels many things, but a mature faith knows the full assurance of the Lord.
