God does not make scripture confusing. God is a God of peace.
1Cor14.33 For God is not a God of confusion but of peace. As in all the churches of the saints,
There are any number of books on the art and science of proper Biblical interpretation, but I am going to suggest some very practical things that can be done to understand the Bible. If you have trouble understanding scripture include these steps:
Pray for wisdom. James1.5 If any of you lacks wisdom let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him.
Have a heart to study. Ezra7.10 For Ezra had set his heart to study the Law of the Lord, and to do it and to teach his statutes and rules in Israel.
Believe that the Bible is true. Proverbs18.30 This God—his way is perfect; the word of the Lord proves true; he is a shield for all those who take refuge in him.
Believe that the Bible is without error. 1John4.6 We are from God. Whoever knows God listens to us; whoever is not from God does not listen to us. By this we know the Spirit of truth and the spirit of error.
Have faith and believe that God exist. Hebrews11.6 And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.
Study with the goal to keep God’s word. Psalms119.57 The Lord is my portion; I promise to keep your words.
Before you start to study the Bible you must pray for wisdom, have a heart for study, have the faith to believe that God exist and His word is true and without error, and plan to keep and do His word in your life. This approach will do more for your Bible study than any level of scholarship.
