No Sorrow to Borrow; No Shame to Claim

I have no righteousness.

  • I cannot buy any
  • I cannot inherit any
  • I cannot earn any

What am I to do for I now know I need it?

There is shame in not having the resources that you need. The things that you need of this world, such as food, clothing, housing, and we each have experienced this at one time. God says that we will also experience this same shame when we do not have the things we need to enter Heaven.

Psalm83.16    Fill their faces with shame, that they may seek your name, O Lord. 17 Let them be put to shame and dismayed forever; let them perish in disgrace, 18 that they may know that you alone, whose name is the Lord, are the Most High over all the earth.

There is a different description for those that believe in the Lord.

Romans10.11 For the Scripture says, “Everyone who believes in him will not be put to shame.”

But then it says in: Romans3.10 as it is written: “None is righteous, no, not one;

 But if none are righteous what are we to do?

2Cor5.21 For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.

God transfers our sin to Jesus Christ. This is why we cannot buy, inherit, or earn our righteousness. Since God cannot let sin into Heaven, He gives our sin to Christ to bear upon the cross for us…our righteousness is free because Jesus Christ paid the price for us. This is the good news of the Gospel and this is why it is such good news.

 When we believe we become the righteousness of God, and therefore there is no sorrow to borrow and no shame to claim the righteousness of God.

 Prov10.22 The blessing of the Lord makes rich, and he adds no sorrow with it.
