The Roman and pagan world of the Apostle Paul’s day is described in these next verses. Ga 5:19 Now the works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, Ga 5:20 idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, Ga 5:21 envy, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. These verses also describe the world today.
Paul then tells us the verse that we all know which describes the fruit of the Spirit. Ga 5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, Ga 5:23 gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. This is in direct contrast to the unbelieving world.
How are we to live this life producing the fruits of the Spirit? Ga 5:25 If we live by the Spirit, let us also keep in step with the Spirit. AS we walk we should strive to keep in step with the Spirit…walking every moment side by side as two soldiers across the spiritual battlefield.
