I am sure that you have had many discussions about “what is the Gospel?” There have been many books and many doctoral theses on the subject. The Bible tells us that in the end times God will send an angel to over fly the whole earth and proclaim the eternal Gospel. The angel is an ambassador for God and as God’s representative; this angel will carry God’s exact words.
What are God’s exact 6 words for the eternal Gospel…“Fear God and give him glory”? That is it…just that simple.
Re 14:6 Then I saw another angel flying directly overhead, with an eternal gospel to proclaim to those who dwell on earth, to every nation and tribe and language and people. Re 14:7 And he said with a loud voice, “Fear God and give him glory, because the hour of his judgment has come, and worship him who made heaven and earth, the sea and the springs of water.”
God is a serious God and God speaks perfectly. God tells everyone on earth at the time that should you fail to follow these 6 words you will not be saved. Notice in this next verse that the same word “glory” is used for those that are lost.
Re 16:9 They were scorched by the fierce heat, and they cursed the name of God who had power over these plagues. They did not repent and give him glory.
Also notice in Rev.19.5 the word “fear” for those that listened to the 6 words of the Gospel as told by the angel. The word “glory” is in Rev.19.7 for those that are among the great multitude. In fact, the 6 words “fear God and give Him glory” saved a multitude.
Re 19:4 And the twenty-four elders and the four living creatures fell down and worshiped God who was seated on the throne, saying, “Amen. Hallelujah!” Re 19:5 And from the throne came a voice saying, “Praise our God, all you his servants, you who fear him, small and great.”
Re 19:6 Then I heard what seemed to be the voice of a great multitude, like the roar of many waters and like the sound of mighty peals of thunder, crying out, “Hallelujah! For the Lord our God the Almighty reigns. Re 19:7 Let us rejoice and exult and give him the glory, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and his Bride has made herself ready
The next time you want to explain saving grace…keep it simple God did.
