#171 Seven Things About the Foolish and Worthless Shepherd I am Fred Myers the founder of For the Fathers Ministry, and this is Faith by the Numbers. Count your way to wisdom in number one-hundred-seventy-one of this series, Seven Things About the Foolish and Worthless Shepherd. Who is this foolish and worthless shepherd in Zechariah 11.15-17? The context of these verses is that of a shepherd very busy with destruction. The description fits the one described in Revelation 13.3-9. The word “foolish” indicates the futility of his efforts. The word “worthless” describe his activities as a brutal ruler. Seven Things About the Foolish and Worthless Shepherd: This shepherd does not care for those being destroyed. This shepherd does not heal the maimed. This shepherd does not nourish the healthy. This shepherd devours the rich. This shepherd Tears off the feet of the fleeing meaning no one will be able to escape his wrath. This shepherd has his arm and eye struck with a sword. This shepherd’s arm withers and his right eye is completely blinded. God is gracious to warn mankind of the coming foolish and worthless shepherd. The saved will not be caught off guard. Notice the details and how the description is precise. It does not say his eye is blinded, it says his right eye is blinded. God wants the righteous fully aware. The foolish and worthless shepherd will inherit eternal punishment and his destiny is the Lake of Fire. The inheritance and destiny of the righteous is to be in the presence of God’s glory forever. I am Fred Myers, and this is Faith by the Numbers. It is my prayer that many will count their way to wisdom through this series and find the peace that surpasses all understanding.  Zec 11:15 Then the Lord said to me, “Take once more the equipment of a foolish shepherd. Zec 11:16 For behold, I am raising up in the land a shepherd who does not care for those being destroyed, or seek the young or heal the maimed or nourish the healthy, but devours the flesh of the fat ones, tearing off even their hoofs. Zec 11:17 “Woe to my worthless shepherd, who deserts the flock! May the sword strike his arm and his right eye! Let his arm be wholly withered, his right eye utterly blinded!”
