The Bible does demonstrate that God will harden hearts, but only after man has first turned from Him. God will agree with a person with a hardened heart and will let them perish in their own wisdom.
Is 29:13 And the Lord said: “Because this people draw near with their mouth and honor me with their lips, while their hearts are far from me, and their fear of me is a commandment taught by men, Is 29:14 therefore, behold, I will again do wonderful things with this people, with wonder upon wonder; and the wisdom of their wise men shall perish, and the discernment of their discerning men shall be hidden.”
Here God hardened the hearts of Israel’s enemy for their destruction.
Jos 11:20 For it was the Lord’s doing to harden their hearts that they should come against Israel in battle, in order that they should be devoted to destruction and should receive no mercy but be destroyed, just as the Lord commanded Moses.
There is a day that is appointed. For the Israelites in the desert, it was when the people became afraid to enter into the promise land.
Heb 3:15 As it is said, “Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion.”
