The world thinks differently than God. Too often men that are good, decent, and serious are mistaken for what is equitable and true. Jesus was asked the question of what good deed one could do to go to Heaven.
Mt 19:16 And behold, a man came up to him, saying, “Teacher, what good deed must I do to have eternal life?”
Jesus knowing that the man had a wrong understanding of the word good, replied with a question.
Mt 19:17a And he said to him, “Why do you ask me about what is good?
Jesus than answered the question, and told the man that there is only one way to be good; Jesus than told him in essence that there was not one single good deed he could do, but how he could truly enter Heaven…“keep the commandments”.
Mt 19:17b There is only one who is good. If you would enter life, keep the commandments.”
There is no good deed that will get us into Heaven, there is only obedience to the commands of the God of the Bible, and this is the part that man refuses to accept…man wants to be in control and declare himself a good, decent, and a serious person. Good, decent, and serious is not a Biblical requirement for salvastion.
