Do Christians really understand the place of the lost? Given a better understanding, do you have a greater urge to seek the lost…especially those that you love?

Gloom: an atmosphere of misfortune and depression.

Darkness: misery, destruction, death, ignorance, sorrow, wickedness:—dark (-ness), night, obscurity[i]

Blackness: an overshadowing of everything.

Job 3:5 Let gloom and deep darkness claim it. Let clouds dwell upon it; let the blackness of the day terrify it. Job 3:6 That night—let thick darkness seize it! Let it not rejoice among the days of the year; let it not come into the number of the months.

Job 10:22 the land of gloom like thick darkness, like deep shadow without any order, where light is as thick darkness.”

Is 8:22 And they will look to the earth, but behold, distress and darkness, the gloom of anguish. And they will be thrust into thick darkness.

Is 59:9 Therefore justice is far from us, and righteousness does not overtake us; we hope for light, and behold, darkness, and for brightness, but we walk in gloom.

Joe 2:2 a day of darkness and gloom, a day of clouds and thick darkness! Like blackness there is spread upon the mountains a great and powerful people; their like has never been before, nor will be again after them through the years of all generations.

2 Pe 2:17 These are waterless springs and mists driven by a storm. For them the gloom of utter darkness has been reserved.

Jud 13 wild waves of the sea, casting up the foam of their own shame; wandering stars, for whom the gloom of utter darkness has been reserved forever.

Jud 13 wild waves of the sea, casting up the foam of their own shame; wandering stars, for whom the gloom of utter darkness has been reserved forever.

Is 50:3 I clothe the heavens with blackness and make sackcloth their covering.”

Ge 1:2 The earth was without form and void, and darkness was over the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.

Ps 88:6 You have put me in the depths of the pit, in the regions dark and deep.

Ps 107:10 Some sat in darkness and in the shadow of death, prisoners in affliction and in irons, Ps 107:11 for they had rebelled against the words of God, and spurned the counsel of the Most High.

Mt 25:30And cast the worthless servant into the outer darkness. In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’

Gnashing: to grate or grind your teeth; this is a symptom of utter tension in anguish which includes violent movements of the mouth. I find it interesting that the mouth that violently blasphemed God will now move violently forever.

Weeping: denotes a loud expression of grief, wailing, mourning, and groaning.[ii]

There will be great and loud mourning accompanied with grief and groaning because there will be even greater remorse that the answer is final.
