This is one of my favorite verses and I use it often to answer questions about eternal security. Jesus tells us as believers that we will never perish. Jesus than adds another very important fact: no one will snatch them out of His hand. He could have stopped there but Jesus gives us another powerful promise: no one is able to snatch them out of my Father’s hands.
If we were to picture this in its physical form, we would see each believer being held by the hands of Jesus and the hands of God. This is about as safe as our salvation could ever get. Notice that Jesus states that “no one” can snatch a believer. I and you are someone; which means that we cannot, once saved, even snatch away our own salvation. Does the Bible teach “once saved always saved”? Yes it does and this verse is just one powerful promise that demonstrates this teaching.
John10.27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. 28 I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand. 29 My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all, and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father’s hand. 30 I and the Father are one.”
