Too many Christians are confused as to evil. There are the words of Jesus about turning the other cheek and loving your enemies.
These are words to individuals.
Mt 5:38 “You have heard that it was said, ‘An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.’ Mt 5:39 But I say to you, Do not resist the one who is evil. But if anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also.
Mt 5:43 “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ Mt 5:44 But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you,
These are words to government.
Ro 13:3 For rulers are not a terror to good conduct, but to bad. Would you have no fear of the one who is in authority? Then do what is good, and you will receive his approval, Ro 13:4 for he is God’s servant for your good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for he does not bear the sword in vain. For he is the servant of God, an avenger who carries out God’s wrath on the wrongdoer.
Governments are God’s instrument of wrath for the law-breaker and the evil-doer. Evil cannot be managed; it must be avenged.
