The Bible teaches that getting Biblical Wisdom is the key to a life of prosperity and peace Starting with these fundamental verses, let’s look at how you obtain Biblical Wisdom and how God defines the word wisdom.
Psalm 111:10 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; all those who practice it have a good understanding. His praise endures forever!
Proverbs 4:7 The beginning of wisdom is this: Get wisdom, and whatever you get, get insight.
Proverbs 9:10 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is insight.
Proverbs 8:12 “I, wisdom, dwell with prudence, and I find knowledge and discretion.
In these four verses we have all six of our words; wisdom, understanding, insight, knowledge, prudence, and discretion. Each used somewhat differently and yet each are an integral part of God’s instructions for obtaining His riches…spiritual and material.
The Bible uses the words wisdom and understanding in the same verse and speaks of them as two different things. It also uses prudence, insight, knowledge, and discretion in the same way. The Bible uses each of these words as having a particular understanding and meaning. Using the definitions as defined by the Concise Oxford English dictionary, let’s construct one encompassing statement for Biblical Wisdom.
Biblical Wisdom is a body of knowledge, (the Bible), and experience, (Life); that demonstrates the ability to comprehend accurately with a deep understanding, all of God’s word; empowering one to act with care and thought for the future with the capacity for faith and forgiveness by grace and mercy.
