Biblical Relevance for Today

It is wonderful how we can turn to the Bible and still see its relevance for today. With this weekend’s rally at the Washington Mall, it is a good time to take a look at our Bible for relevance today.

This indictment was against Israel, but it could be lodged with even greater justification against America today. Isa1.2"Hear, O heavens, and give ear, O earth: . . . I have nourished and brought up children, and they have rebelled against me.

The morals of our people seem to have been turned upside down, and God would say to us also:  Isa5.20 "Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness".

It is not good to read and find ourselves and our country described. But, God does not leave us barren. For each of us there is 1John1.9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Notice there is no asking for forgiveness there is only confessing.

For our Country the path is clear: Lev26.40“But if they confess their iniquity and the iniquity of their fathers in their treachery that they committed against me, and also in walking contrary to me, 41 so that I walked contrary to them and brought them into the land of their enemies—if then their uncircumcised heart is humbled and they make amends for their iniquity, 42 then I will remember my covenant with Jacob, and I will remember my covenant with Isaac and my covenant with Abraham, and I will remember the land. The same way Israel could receive national forgiveness America can receive national forgiveness.
