Biblical Freedom

“Socialism wants to pull down wealth; Liberalism seeks to raise up poverty.” (Churchill)

The problem with both political theories is that they both do it by government taking. Government has not at any time in the history of the world been able to achieve successful mediation of capital. It is not like there are not any examples. The rise and fall of every empire in history has hinged on this question. Not only the rise and fall, but war and famine are a direct result of each failed attempt. Why? Neither socialism nor liberalism believes in God.

2Cor3.17 Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.

Both political systems promise freedom, but result in slavery. Again it is not for a lack of examples; it has happened every time such political systems are promoted…the Bible predicted this.

2Pet2.19  They promise them freedom, but they themselves are slaves of corruption. For whatever overcomes a person, to that he is enslaved.

Government taking and citizen support of government taking is sin. To covet is sin and to steal is sin. The Bible states clearly that one must work. God told Adam after the fall that man would work by the “sweat of his face until the day he died”. There could be no clearer set of direction.

Yes we are to help those in need, but that command is to each person and to the Church. Government has no such command.
