Paul wants each believer to understand that the only proper view of everything is a Heavenly view. From an airplane the landscape is beautiful…even cities. But as we descend in altitude the picture changes and once we are back on the ground our attitude also changes. Surrounded by the effects of sin, we lose that view from above and fix our minds on that which is below.
Jesus and all of the gospel writers knew that this would be an issue, and they encouraged each believer with many verses, but especially these two.
As to the world:
1John5.4 For everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith. 5 Who is it that overcomes the world except the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?
John16.33 I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”
