A Living Christ

“The early Christians did not believe in the resurrection of Christ because they could not find his dead body. They believed because they did find a living Christ.”[1]

Many Christians are under the impression that only the 12 apostles saw Jesus after His resurrection; in fact Jesus was seen by over 500 people according to Paul.

1Cor15.5b he appeared to Peter, then to the twelve. Then he appeared to more than five hundred brothers at one time, most of whom are still alive, though some have fallen asleep. Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles. Last of all, as to one untimely born, he appeared also to me.

Paul writing to Christians of that day knew full well that his story could and would be checked out. Some people would seek out those that had seen Jesus…it is only human nature to do so. People like to verify if they can, and in that day they could.

Peter also tells very plainly that he and the other apostles did not make it up, “we did not follow cleverly devised myths”. Peter declared that they were eye witnesses, “we were eyewitnesses”.

2Peter1.16  For we did not follow cleverly devised myths when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we were eyewitnesses of his majesty.

A living Christ is living proof of a living testimony.
